The constitution of the ITUK is a document which is always under review.
Its purpose is as much to provide a framework for our students as it is for their instructors.
It also lays down the requirements for the mechanics of the organisation.

1.0 Purpose
1.1 The International Tae Kwon Do United Kingdom (ITUK)
Organisation exists to promote and encourage the study and
further development of International Tae Kwon Do Federation
(ITF) style Tae Kwon Do (TKD).
2.0 Philosophy
2.1 The Philosophy of the ITUK is to encourage the practice of Tae
Kwon Do in line with its Oath and Tenets.
2.2 The Tenets
Courtesy,
Integrity,
Perseverance,
Self-Control and
Indomitable Spirit.
We felt that it was appropriate to spell this out, it is all very well to teach to our
beginners and yellow belts the need to learn these tenets but it is that bit more important to
try to demonstrate that we intend to apply them from committe level down.
2.3 The Oath
I shall observe the tenets of Tae Kwon Do.
I shall respect my instructor and seniors.
I shall never mis-use Tae Kwon Do.
I shall be a champion of freedom and justice.
I shall help build a more peaceful world.
3.0 Objectives of the ITUK
Our objectives lay out a number of goals that are reasonable for a student to expect,
and detail training, safety, oportunities and duties. The first in this list
of objectives is detailed below.
3.1 To place student before profit.
We are aware that the student is first and foremost the most important member of our organisation.
The other objectives are not described here but include equal opportunities and
describe the duties of our members.
4.0 Membership
This section describes the requirements of students to become members of the ITUK.
5.0 The Committee
This section details the responsibilities and makeup of the committee. The ITUK committee is essentially formed
of club instructors. One club one vote irrespective of club size or age.
8.0 ITUK Finances
The ITUK operates a transparent financial policy which is open to scrutiny.
9.0 Grading rules
The ITUK has a system of training grading examiners and defines specific criteria which our examiners must meet.
This section also details the time periods and requirements for grading from white belt all the way up to
senior black belt promotions. Specific grading grievance procedures are detailed.
10.0 Grievance Procedure
This section details the procedure that should be followed in the event of a grievance. This is designed to resolve
issues with a minimum of frustration.
11.0 Club rules
The rules described here are intended as a basic requirement and cover requirements for insurance, guidelines for
starting new clubs, the right of instructors to refuse entry to students and the syllabus that should be taught.
12.0 Competition Rules
As in the previous section, this is a basic requirement for competitions
13.0 Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA)
This section details the steps that shall be taken in order to comply with the DDA.
The constitution is reviewed at least annually and endorsed by the president.
